EDF signs an agreement for the acquisition of Global Ressources Options, Inc, (groSolar) and continues its expansion in renewables in the United States

EDF Renewable Energy* (EDF RE), a subsidiary of the EDF Group responsible for developing renewable activities in North America, has signed an agreement for the acquisition of Global Ressources Options, Inc (known as “groSolar”), a specialized player in the installation and sale of photovoltaic power plants for communities, businesses and industries.

Created 18 years ago in Vermont, groSolar today has around fifty employees and is among the American market leaders in this specific segment of distributed solar. Recognized for its expertise and know-how, groSolar designs, develops, builds and offers complete solutions for the latest generation of photovoltaic solar installations with an average power of around 5 MWp.

A competitive player in a growing photovoltaic market, groSolar has built over 2,000 small solar installations equivalent to 150 MWp throughout the United States, particularly in Massachusetts, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. , North Carolina, Connecticut, Indiana and even California.

Established for nearly 30 years in the United States, Canada and Mexico, EDF RE, the American subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles (EDF EN), is today one of the largest players in the sector in North America and the partner large American firms such as Google, Microsoft and Procter & Gamble. EDF RE operates more than 10 GW and owns approximately 4,100 MW of installed power. Over the past few years, the company has developed more than 8 GW of renewable energy projects. In 2015, it signed more than 543 MW of renewable electricity supply contracts with American multinationals. It has also just announced the construction of a future solar power plant of around 115 MWp in California.

Jean-Bernard Lévy, Chairman and CEO of EDF, declared : “Now integrated into EDF RE, Global Ressources Options, Inc will strengthen the skills and technical expertise of the Group in the United States. In line with its CAP 2030 strategy, this acquisition will allow EDF, through its subsidiary specializing in renewables EDF EN, to offer its customers, in particular communities and industrialists, a wider range of competitive, decentralized and carbon-free solutions. . This operation enriches the Group's lasting roots in North America, a strategic geographic area for EDF's international development.

The acquisition is subject to customary conditions precedent which are expected to be lifted in the coming weeks.
