Isolated and island networks

Welcome > Our solutions > Isolated and island networks

With our offer dedicated to isolated territories, we enable island states in particular to benefit from low-carbon and competitive electricity.

Why an offer dedicated to isolated networks?

Around the world, isolated territories and particularly island networks still rely heavily on fossil fuels to produce their electricity.

Thanks to our tailor-made offers for these networks of 50,000 to 2 million inhabitants, we support these isolated territories in their energy transition. Our solutions combining solar projects and energy storage solutions allow a reduction in energy bills, but also in CO2 emissions and dependence on fossil fuels.

Summary

Did you know that by replacing diesel power plants with high CO2 emissions, a solar installation of around 30 MW located on the islands could avoid the emission of around one million tonnes of CO2?

Advantages

Reduced energy costs

Competitive energy, sometimes more than half as expensive as electricity from fossil fuels such as diesel.

Reduction of CO2 emissions

A significant reduction in CO emissions2 compared to a conventional all-diesel system.

Simplicity Reliability

A more autonomous system, reducing the constraints and risks linked to fuel logistics.

Controlled price of electricity

Long-term security and stability of electricity costs.

Our expertise in isolated networks

Subsidiary of the EDF Group, we have extensive experience in the design and operation of complex energy solutions. Present in more than 20 countries, our teams ensure the entire life cycle of the project in a transversal manner: from its design to its construction, including its financing and operation and then its dismantling. Since 2019, we have developed strong expertise in isolated electrical systems in different areas: Africa, Middle East, Oceania…

FOCUS

Ecosun Innovations

Since 2020, we have been partners of Ecosun Innovations. Located in Alsace, the company designs, manufactures and markets innovative solutions for solar generators for mobile production and storage, replacing or hybridizing with diesel groups. The solutions are available in containers, trailers and ready-to-connect frames.

Aggregio solutions

To participate in the integration of renewable energies into the electricity system, the EDF group created Agregio Solutions in May 2023. The company is one of the French leaders in the aggregation of decentralized energy resources and aims to also become one at the European level.
