As part of the agreement between the EDF Regional Action Delegation and the Nantes Academy, the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm organized sea visits during the month of May for nearly 1,000 students. of the Pays de la Loire region. These sea outings allowed middle and high school students from vocational and general training to discover the first offshore wind farm in France as well as the different professions linked to this sector of the future.
On the occasion of a sea trip, Jean-Michel Moreau, the Chief of Staff of the rector of the Academy of Nantes, and Hervé Rivoalen, Director of the Delegation for Regional Action of the EDF Group, welcomed this initiative which benefited nearly 1,000 students aged 14 to 20 from general and vocational sectors. Organized as part of the partnership between the EDF Regional Action Delegation and the Nantes Academy, this operation aimed to create bridges between the educational world and that of industry, to encourage and facilitate the integration of young people in the renewable energy sector, promising and growing.
During these visits, the students discovered the first park to have been put into service in France, as well as the professional opportunities offered by the energy transition, and in particular the development of offshore wind power. The only construction of the substation of the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm mobilized more than 450 people in Pays de la Loire and participated in the development of a new activity on the Chantiers de l'Atlantique in the energy sector renewable marine resources. As of December 31, 2022, offshore wind already represented more than 7,500 direct jobs in France, and the sector is committed to creating 20,000 jobs by 2030 as part of the Pact signed with the State. Winner of five offshore wind calls for tender out of nine in France, EDF Renewables is fully committed to supporting the development of the industrial sector.
EDF Renewables, present in the Pays de la Loire region with an offshore wind farm, three onshore wind farms and two solar power plants in operation, is continuing its development.
