Bruno Bensasson will join EDF on April 16 as Group Executive Director in charge of the Renewable Energy Sector and Chairman and CEO of EDF Energies Nouvelles.
Born in Paris in 1972, Bruno Bensasson is an engineer graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole des Mines de Paris. He began his professional career in 1998 within the Nuclear Safety Authority as head of regional division (Lower and Upper Normandy) then Chief of Staff to the Director General. From 2004 to 2006, he then served as technical advisor in charge of the environment, new energies and nuclear energy in the office of the Minister of Industry, then as advisor to the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic. in charge of industry, environment and transport.
He joined SUEZ in 2007 as Director of Economic Studies in the Development and Strategy Department. In 2011, he became a member of the Executive Committee of GDF SUEZ as Director of Strategy and Sustainable Development. He was appointed Managing Director of GDF SUEZ Energie France at the start of 2013 before becoming, in July 2014, Deputy Managing Director of GDF SUEZ Energie Europe in charge of renewable development and production. Since 2016, he has held the position of Managing Director of Engie Africa. Bruno Bensasson succeeds Antoine Cahuzac, who wished to assert his retirement rights. At the request of Jean-Bernard Lévy and to promote a smooth and efficient transition, Antoine Cahuzac accepted a mission as advisor to the President until the end of the year.
