LUXEL and Lendosphere are launching crowdfunding on June 18 for the Vallée des Baux-Alpilles solar power plant, in Bouches-du-Rhône

LUXEL, a subsidiary of EDF Renewables, announces the opening on June 18 of crowdfunding on the Lendosphere platform to finance the construction of the future solar power plant at Maussane-les-Alpilles and Paradou, in Bouches du-Rhône. With a total amount of €300,000, this investment opportunity is primarily aimed at residents of the Vallée des Baux-Alpilles community of communes, then will be extended to those in the departments of Bouches-du-Rhône, Gard, Var and Vaucluse.

The terms of this investment (yield, duration, etc.) are presented on: www.lendosphere.com/maussane

Covering an area of eleven hectares, the site is located on a former landfill rehabilitated in 2016 by the Vallée des Baux-Alpilles Community of Communes, owner of the land, with a view to installing a solar power plant and revaluing this land. The result of close work between the Community of Municipalities and LUXEL, this power plant is under construction and will be commissioned at the beginning of 2022.

“I am delighted with the imminent completion of our joint photovoltaic power plant project, the result of a strong desire from our Community of Communes of promote sustainable development in our territory. This objective was born in 2015, after the closure of the storage center in order to rehabilitate the site and promote clean energy. Thanks to the call for crowdfunding, the population will be able to take even greater ownership of this ecological approach by becoming one of the investors of the site. It is thanks to this type of virtuous initiatives that we protect our Alpilles landscape, our agriculture, our energy autonomy and our health. to all ! », explains Hervé Chérubini, President of the Vallée des Baux-Alpilles Community of Communes.

Involve residents in the energy transition of their territory
The first phase of the participatory investment campaign, lasting 15 days, will be reserved for residents of the Vallée des Baux-Alpilles Community of Communes. The second phase will allow residents of Bouches-du-Rhône and neighboring departments (Gard, Var, Vaucluse) to participate in financing the solar project. This territorial exclusivity encourages the use of short-circuit savings and allows direct economic benefits for those living near the project. The overall objective of the campaign is set at €300,000.

“The Vallée des Baux-Alpilles power plant meets all the criteria for the development of renewable energies requested by the State. It will allow throughout its operation to cover more than the annual electricity needs of the entire population of the two municipalities hosting the photovoltaic park: Maussane-les-Alpilles and Le Paradou”, declares Mathieu Pinchard, Director of Grand Sud Projects for LUXEL.

Made up of 20,800 panels and a total power of 8.5 MWp, the photovoltaic plant will produce 12.7 GWh per year, the equivalent of the average annual electricity consumption of around 5,200 inhabitants*. Avoided atmospheric emissions are estimated at 3,150 tonnes of CO2 per year.

*2,457kWh per inhabitant per year: average value calculated on the basis of residential consumption of Continental France in 2016 (158.5 TWh) reduced to the population (64.5 million inhabitants).
