Paris, March 28, 2022 – EDF Renewables is the winner of a solar power plant project in the Moselle department (Grand Est region), following the latest solar call for tenders from the Energy Regulatory Commission. This new project represents a total of more than 52 MW of installed capacity.
EDF Renewables is strengthening its presence in the Grand Est with the new Illange-Bertrange solar power plant, in Moselle.
The future solar power plant will be located in MOSLPARC NORD, a concerted development zone (ZAC) belonging to the Moselle Department. Initiated in 2018, this project of more than 52 MW will consist of 95,000 panels which will produce the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of around 31,600 inhabitants, or more than three quarters of the city of Thionville.
The start of construction of this plant is planned for early 2023 and its commissioning at the end of 2024.
EDF Renewables is already present in the Grand Est region with 424 MW of wind farms and 124 MW of solar power plants in operation, including that of Toul-Rosières (115 MW) located on a former military base. 550 MW of solar projects are also under development.

In addition to the local benefits in the development phase, operation, construction will mobilize local jobs and businesses. »
In 2012, the Department of Moselle initiated a proactive sustainable development strategy, focusing in particular on controlling the energy expenditure of colleges and administrative buildings, and the deployment of renewable energies. This energy sobriety is based on a rehabilitation/renovation program, optimization of assets, or the construction of 10 new high energy efficiency colleges. The Department, via its Ambition Moselle policy, also supports community projects that meet energy performance objectives.
