EDF Renewables commissions more than 100 MWp of solar power in Israel

EDF Renewables in Israel announces the commissioning of five photovoltaic solar power plants totaling 101 MWp of installed capacity.
These new solar installations contribute to EDF's CAP 2030 ambition, which aims to double its renewable capacities worldwide beyond 50 GW, between 2015 and 2030.

Pduyim solar power plant (14 MWp)

The five inaugurated solar power plants, namely: Mashabei Sadeh (60 MWp), Pduyim (14 MWp), Mefalsim (13 MWp), Kfar Maimon (7 MWp) and Bitha (7 MWp), are located in the Negev desert.

The approximately 307,400 panels constituting them cover nearly 130 hectares.

Of the five photovoltaic installations, four were won in a tender in mid-2017 and produce electricity at the lowest rate ever in Israel, €47/MWh, while the Mashabei Sadeh solar plant was acquired by the group at the project stage in 2017.

In Israel, EDF Renewables now operates 17 solar power plants totaling nearly 300 MWp.

Bruno Bensasson, Executive Director of EDF in charge of the Renewable Energy Sector and Chairman and CEO of EDF Renewables, declared: “The commissioning of these photovoltaic plants allows EDF Renewables to consolidate its leading position in Israel where it already operates more than 25% of installed renewable capacities.

Through its CAP 2030 corporate strategy to be deployed in France and internationally, EDF is happy to contribute here to the fight for the Climate in Israel, where it has strong ambitions in solar, storage, as well as 'wind power'.
