EDF Renewables launches a crowdfunding campaign for the construction of the Lux solar power plant (Côte-d’Or)

Paris, December 4, 2020 – EDF Renewables announces the opening of crowdfunding for the construction of Lux, a photovoltaic power plant of more than 8 MW in Côte-d'Or. With a total amount of €185,000, the collection will allow the local population to invest, from December 14 and until February 14, in this renewable installation which is scheduled to come into service in 2022.
The collection will initially be open to residents of the Community of Communes of the Tille and Ignon valleys, then from December 30, to residents of the departments of Côte-d'Or, Jura, Haute-Marne, Haute-Saône, Nièvre, Saône-et-Loire and Yonne.

Involve residents in the construction of a photovoltaic power plant

This collection, the campaign of which will start on December 14, 2020 via the site www.lendosphere.com/de-lux, aims to finance part of the construction of the photovoltaic power plant, located in the town of Lux. Construction work will begin in 2021.

With a total capacity of more than 8 MW, the Lux solar power plant will be made up of a total of nearly 22,700 solar panels. This solar installation will contribute to local dynamism and generate more than €35,000 in direct economic benefits for communities.

Through this crowdfunding operation, citizens become stakeholders in the Lux solar power plant. Thus, the collection, set at €185,000, will be reserved:

  • to residents of the Community of Communes of the Tille and Ignon valleys from December 14 to December 30;
  • then from December 30 until February 14 to residents of the local and neighboring departments: Côte-d'Or, Aube, Jura, Haute-Marne, Nièvre, Haute-Saône, Saône-etLoire, Yonne.

Investing in sustainable economic recovery and energy transition

Initiated in 2017, the Lux photovoltaic project is located on a former sand quarry and will extend over 8.2 hectares. It marks the desire of local authorities to promote the development of renewable energies. For EDF Renewables, it is a question of sustainably supporting the territories in their ambitions and of carrying out projects that respect the environment while generating economic benefits at the local level.

When it is commissioned in early 2022, the plant will produce 9.1 GWh annually, equivalent to the average annual electricity consumption of around 2,140 all-electric homes.

For Sarah Friedrich, project manager at EDF Renewables: “EDF Renewables is very happy to launch this new campaign for the Lux solar power plant. This solar park is the result of co-construction work between citizens, the territory and EDF Renewables, and marks the desire of municipalities to engage in renewable energies. A new project which reinforces EDF Renewables' objective of sustainably supporting region in its energy transition.
