Paris, December 4, 2020 – EDF Renewables announces the opening of crowdfunding for the construction of a solar power plant of more than 15 MW, in the town of Briare in the Loiret. With a total amount of €338,000, the collection will allow the local population to invest, from December 14 and until February 14, in a photovoltaic park which will be commissioned in 2021.
The collection will initially be open to residents of the Community of Communes Berry Loire Puisaye then from December 30 to all residents of the departments Cher, Essonne, Eure-et-Loir, Loiret, Loir-et-Cher, Nièvre, Seine-et-Marne and Yonne.
Involve residents in the construction of a photovoltaic power plant
This collection, the campaign of which will start on December 14, 2020 via the site www.lendosphere.com/briare aims to finance part of the construction of the photovoltaic park, located in the town of Briare. Construction work began in September 2020.
With a total cumulative capacity of more than 15 MW, this photovoltaic project is located on a former abandoned A77 motorway site, in the town of Briare and will extend over 15 hectares. It will consist of a total of nearly 38,000 solar panels. This solar park contributes to local dynamism and will generate more than €68,000 in direct annual tax benefits for communities. Through this crowdfunding operation, citizens become stakeholders in the Briare solar power plant. Thus, the collection, set at €338,000, will be reserved:
- to residents of the Berry Loire Puisaye community of communes from December 14 to December 30.
- then open from December 30 until February 14 to residents of Loiret and the departments bordering the solar power plant: Cher, Essonne, Eure-et-Loir, Loir-et-Cher, Nièvre, Seine-et-Marne and Yonne .
Investing in sustainable economic recovery and energy transition
This photovoltaic power plant project marks the desire of local authorities to promote the development of renewable energies. For EDF Renewables, it is a question of sustainably supporting the territories in their ambitions and of carrying out projects that respect the environment while generating economic benefits at the local level.
When it is commissioned in 2021, the plant will produce 17.2 GWh annually, equivalent to the average annual electricity consumption of around 3,100 all-electric homes.
For Clément Sellier, project manager at EDF Renewables: “EDF Renewables is very happy to launch this crowdfunding campaign for the solar power plant of Briare. This photovoltaic project is the culmination of a close collaboration initiated in 2017, between the different communities of the territory, commune, intercommunality and department, and EDF Renewables. This project is fully part of the site rehabilitation process “degraded” and unused with a view to developing renewable energies in the region. He reinforces EDF Renewables' objective of sustainably supporting the region in its energy transition.
ONLINE WEBINAR:
In order to present the project and answer questions from local residents about the launch of this crowdfunding, EDF Renewables and Lendosphere are organizing an information webinar accessible online:
