EDF Renewables inaugurates the Sud-Arrageois wind farm in Hauts-de-France

Paris, October 3, 2023 – EDF Renewables inaugurates the Sud-Arrageois wind farm, made up of 6 wind turbines for an installed capacity of 21.6 MW.

The park, located in the municipalities of Croisilles, Héninel and Saint-Martin-sur-Cojeul, will provide the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of approximately 50,000 inhabitants or 46% of the population of the Urban Community of Arras .

Developed in close collaboration with the territory since 2015, construction of the park was launched in 2021. It mobilized local companies including Lemoine Espaces Verts and Carnel Paysages, based in Héninel and Hamelincourt, which will ensure monitoring and implementation environmental and landscape measures throughout the duration of the park's operation. Residents of the department and neighboring departments were invited to invest in this project through a crowdfunding platform in June 2022. The 200,000 euros were collected from 114 private investors.

From its design, the park took into account the biodiversity and environmental issues of the territory. Particular attention was paid to the integration of the project into its environment. For example, the environmental study area was extended to around twenty kilometers around the project.

During the construction phase, a drone equipped with a camera flew over the area to locate the species present. The project's construction schedule has been adapted to limit the impact on the species present.

Giacomo Lunazi, Hauts-de-France region development manager at EDF Renewables, said : " We are very happy to inaugurate the Sud Arrageois wind farm. The close collaboration between the territory and EDF Renewables to take into account the environmental, economic and landscape specificities of the territory made it possible to define a coherent project. »

EDF Renewables crowdfunding

5,000 private investors have been able to participate in the construction of renewable installations to the tune of 10 million euros over 60 collections in France since 2015. Open mainly to local residents living near solar, onshore and offshore wind projects, crowdfunding initiated by the EDF group constitutes a significant lever to meet the growing demand from individuals to be able to invest in the transition
energy of their territory while benefiting from economic spinoffs.
