EDF Renewables inaugurates the largest solar power plant in the Ain department

Developed and built by EDF Renewables in Ain, the Niévroz solar power plant is made up of 32,697 photovoltaic panels with a total power of 13.3 MWp. Since its commissioning in March 2022, it has produced the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of 9,400 people, or nearly 40% of the electricity needs of the Communauté de communes de la Côtière in Montluel.

Located on a former quarry for alluvial materials and covered by the Flood Risk Prevention Plan, the solar power plant contributes to the commitment of the Community of Communes of the Coast to Montluel in favor of the energy transition. Crowdfunding was also offered to local residents. Between September and November 2021, 125,000 euros were collected.

The Niévroz solar power plant is part of EDF's Solar Plan which aims to make the Group a leader in solar energy in France by 2035. Today, EDF Renewables operates and builds 8 renewable installations totaling around 120 MW, in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.
