Paris, May 16, 2023 – At the end of the first auction for the development of marine renewable energies launched by the Irish government, the project company Codling Wind Park, owned by EDF Renouvelables and Fred. Olsen Seawind won the largest wind project in the Irish Sea on May 11, 2023.

EirGrid, the public electricity transmission operator in Ireland, confirmed on Thursday 11 May 2023, on a provisional basis, to award the largest of four projects awarded in the first auction launched under the diagram of the Irish Marine Renewable Energy Development Program (ORESS). The publication of the final results will take place by mid-June 2023.

The project, with an installed capacity of approximately 1.3 GW, is expected to provide the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of more than one million Irish homes. The production of this low-carbon electricity will save nearly 2 million tonnes of CO2 emissions each year. Commissioning should take place by 2029.
