EDF Renewables and Enbridge announce the commissioning of the Fox Squirrel solar farm

SAN DIEGO and CALGARY 06/01/2025: EDF Renewables and Enbridge Inc, a leading North American energy infrastructure company, today announced the full commissioning of the Amazon Fox Squirrel solar farm, with three phases now in operation: Fox Squirrel 1 (150MWac/194MWp), Fox Squirrel 2 (250MWac/325MWp) and Fox Squirrel 3 (177MWac/230MWp).

Developed by EDF Renewables and owned in partnership with Enbridge, Fox Squirrel will help meet the growing energy needs of central Ohio. With a total capacity of 577 MWp and its 1.4 million panels and 159 inverters, it represents the largest onshore renewable energy project developed and built by EDF Renewables North America. EDF Renewables employed up to 650 people on site, installing approximately 10,000 panels per day, representing nearly 1.5 million hours of work.

All electricity generated will be supplied to Amazon through power purchase agreements, contributing to its commitment to The Climate Pledge. As companies increase their commitments to renewable energy, solar projects like Fox Squirrel will help make Ohio more attractive and thus stimulate its economic growth.

“We are proud to announce the completion of EDF Renewables’ largest energy investment in North America – Fox Squirrel Solar,” said Kate O’Hair, Vice President of Land Development at EDF Renewables North America. “This project is an example of effective partnerships between landowners, local communities, and our partners, working together for a sustainable future. Our development partner, Geenex Solar, was instrumental in making this project a reality. Fox Squirrel brought hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars to Madison County throughout the development and construction phases. As we move into the operational phase, we are committed to continuing to be a responsible and reliable neighbor and strengthening our environmental stewardship and community relationships.”

“We are proud to celebrate the completion of the final phase of Fox Squirrel Solar, a key milestone in our strategic partnership with EDF Renewables,” said Matthew Akman, Enbridge’s Executive Vice President of Corporate Strategy and President of Energy. “This project represents a significant milestone for Enbridge’s renewable energy strategy, reinforcing our leadership in the energy transition. We are proud to supply 100% of the renewable electricity from this project to Amazon for their operations and sustainability goals.”
