EDF Renewables wins 105 MW in ground-based solar projects in France, according to the latest solar tender from the CRE (France's Energy Regulatory Commission).

Paris, October 23, 2020 – EDF Renewables has been awarded 12 solar photovoltaic power plants, representing a total capacity of 105 MW following the latest solar tender (the “CRE 4.8 tender”) that has just been released.

12 projects won across six regions of France

These new solar projects will be located in the regions of namely Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Centre-Val de Loire, Grand Est, Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Pays de la Loire. These solar power plants will be developed in close consultation with locally elected officials, landowners and local stakeholders. Their construction will start in 2021.

Competitive projects

Those new ground-based PV power plants projects were awarded in the context of a strong competition, demonstrated by an average price of 57.4 € per MWh among the shortlisted projects, which represents a drop of 7.4 % in comparison with previous tenders, and indicates EDF Renewables' ability to develop competitive projects.

EDF ENR, the EDF Group subsidiary specialized in developing solar self-supply projects, has won 9.4 MW, which increases global EDF group's capacity won to more than 114 MW.

These recent successes bring out a main breakthrough for EDF group's Solar Plan, which grows significantly.

Since its launching at the end of 2017, EDF has multiplied by 6 its solar projects won following tenders. The Solar Plan aims to turn EDF into one of the solar leaders in France with 30% market share by 2035.

Nicolas Couderc, EDF Renewables' Executive Vice-President, France, commented: “We are delighted to have been awarded 105 MW in new ground-based solar photovoltaic projects in France and to contribute to the energy transition in France. This outcome backs up our development ambition in the market. I would like to pay tribute to the mobilization effort of the teams that ensured this achievement and will contribute to the success of EDF's Solar Plan.”
