With EDF ENR, the EDF Group is strengthening and diversifying into self-consumption in France

One year after taking the turn towards self-consumption of electricity for individuals and building on the success of its “Mon Soleil & Moi” offer for individual homes, EDF ENR, one of the leaders in distributed solar power in France, is launching “ Notre Soleil & Nous”, a collective self-consumption offer, aimed at co-owners, social landlords and all types of vertical housing who wish to produce and consume their own electricity. The EDF Group thus confirms its ambition in the solar self-consumption market.

Self-consumption is attracting more and more households because it allows them to produce and consume their own energy. Just one year after its launch, more than 1,700 customers have already chosen the “Mon Soleil & Moi” offer. Their average natural self-consumption rate is 60% for a solar installation with an average power of 3 kWp. This rate can reach 80% thanks to the intelligent control solutions offered by EDF ENR and the adaptation of their electrical uses. EDF ENR holds approximately 12% of market share in self-consumption in individual homes and sales volumes are continuously increasing. The initial deployment ambition has been exceeded and the success of this offer could further increase in the coming months with the tariff decree of May 10, 2017 which establishes an investment bonus for self-consumption installations. To continue this momentum and meet the expectations of individuals residing in collective housing, EDF ENR is today launching the “Notre Soleil & Nous” offer which allows residents of a building or an eco-neighborhood to produce their energy on one roof, and to share it thanks to an intelligent management solution.

With EDF ENR and several of its subsidiaries, the EDF Group is accelerating its development in the self-consumption market in France, but also in other markets at the heart of its strategy, such as Italy, Great Britain and Belgium. In France, the group offers businesses and communities personalized self-consumption offers (consulting, operation/maintenance, management and optimization of uses, additional supplies and financing). Supporting its customers in increasing self-consumption and controlling energy consumption to enable them to make savings is a priority for the EDF Group; at the same time, the EDF Group is investing massively in ambitious research and development projects in order to prepare for the evolution of storage technologies, as well as smart networks.

“The development of self-consumption constitutes a key issue in the energy transition, and contributes to the advent of new decentralized modes of consumption. This is an important area of development for the EDF Group, which offers its customers ever more innovative and personalized offers and services as part of its Cap 2030 strategy. declares Antoine Cahuzac, Executive Director of the EDF Group in charge of EDF's Renewable Energies Sector and Managing Director of EDF Energies Nouvelles.
