Development of 620 MW of wind and solar projects in the Occitanie region
On the occasion of the EnerGaïa 2017 Renewable Energy Forum from December 13 to 14 in Montpellier (Hall B5, Allée C, Stand 9), EDF Energies Nouvelles is strengthening its position as a key player in the local economy by revealing its short-term ambitions. and medium term in Occitanie, through 620 MW of wind and solar projects in different phases of development.
As a leader in renewable energies in the Occitanie Region, EDF Energies Nouvelles contributes significantly to the objective of the EDF Group's CAP 2030 strategy of reaching 6 GW of additional renewable capacity in France by 2030.
The ambitions of EDF Energies Nouvelles are consistent with the Occitanie Region's project in renewables to become the first positive energy region in Europe.
EDF Energies Nouvelles: engine of economic development in Occitan territories
In the Occitanie region, EDF Energies Nouvelles operated, as of June 30, 2017, 530 MW of wind and solar capacity, or nearly 10% of regional annual electricity consumption.
The Group intends to continue its deployment in these two renewable activities with 120 MW of projects to be built and 500 MW of projects in development.
The EDF Group, via its subsidiary EDF Energies Nouvelles, launched the Solar Plan on December 11, 2017, which aims to develop and build, between 2020 and 2035, 30 GWp of photovoltaic solar projects in France, in addition to its other renewable activities. .
In addition to the local jobs mobilized during the construction phase of its projects[1], EDF Energies Nouvelles today has 230 employees in Occitanie, including 134 experts, engineers and maintenance technicians distributed between 4 maintenance antennas, and a center for supervising and operating solar and wind installations, located in Colombiers. This center supervises 24 hours a day, 4 GW of wind and photovoltaic installations in 7 European countries.
Recently, EDF Energies Nouvelles opened its fourth maintenance branch in Occitanie. This new local establishment, near the Ensemble Eolien Catalan wind farm in the Pyrénées Orientales (96 MW), has enabled the creation of 8 local, long-term jobs.
A company committed to working alongside local stakeholders to respect the social and environmental issues of the Region
The wind and photovoltaic projects currently being developed by EDF Energies Nouvelles in the Region should generate nearly €20 million in works contracts in 2 years through various lots likely to enable the mobilization of local companies.
To best support local companies in their application for works contracts launched as part of the construction of wind and photovoltaic farms in the Occitanie Region, EDF Energies Nouvelles signed in 2017:
- a social and environmental commitment charter with the CCI Occitanie, the regional building and public works federations, and the DERBI cluster;
- an agreement with the French Building Federation Occitanie, the Regional Federation of Public Works Occitanie and the regional CCI.
These approaches make it possible to participate in the fight against social exclusion and to promote local and regional employment.
