EREN Renewable Energy (“EREN RE”) and EDF Energies Nouvelles, via EDEN, their joint subsidiary which today carries their photovoltaic solar activities in India, announce the commissioning of three solar power plants with a total installed capacity of 87 MWp , including two in the state of Uttarakhand and one in Madhya Pradesh.
The UTT1 and UTT2 solar power plants, with a unit capacity of 36 MWp, are located in the state of Uttarakhand, in the northeast of the country.
Each photovoltaic installation is made up of 225,000 panels. With 72 MWp of cumulative power, the two new photovoltaic plants generate energy to meet the annual electricity needs of 95,000 Indian homes.
The two plants benefit from an electricity purchase contract (“Power Purchase Agreement”, PPA) for a period of 25 years with the regional network operator, Uttarakhand Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL).
The UTT1 and UTT2 projects were won and developed by an Indian consortium (composed of Omkar Powertech India Private Limited, Profigate Infra Gasoline and Rays Power Infra Private Limited) following the call for tenders launched in 2013 by Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (UREDA), the state agency dedicated to the development of renewable energies.
EDF Energies Nouvelles and EREN RE own the two installations equally, alongside Rays Power Infra Limited, a local player among the solar leaders in the country.
In Madhya Pradesh, the MP photovoltaic plant also benefits from an electricity sales contract (“Power Purchase Agreement”, PPA) for a period of 25 years with the regional network operator, Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Limited (MPPMCL). This project was awarded in 2015 as part of a call for tenders launched by MPPMCL.
The photovoltaic installation with a power of 15 MWp produces the equivalent of the annual consumption of 25,000 Indian homes.
The financing arrangement and supervision of the construction of these three solar power plants acquired in 2016 and 2017 were led by EDEN.
EDEN, a joint subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles and EREN RE, develops, builds and operates solar projects jointly owned by the two partners in India.
Through their local presence and their team of experts based in Delhi, EDF Energies Nouvelles and EREN RE now operate more than 200 MWp of solar capacity in the states of Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh.
