Continuing its expansion in France, EDF Energies Nouvelles is announcing the commissioning of the Seuil de Bapaume and La Plaine de l'Escrebieux wind farms in the Nord Pas-de-Calais region, with 27 MW in combined capacity.
The Seuil de Bapaume wind farm, which has 15 MW in installed capacity, is located at Le Transloy in the Pas-de-Calais department.
The 12 MW La Plaine de l’Escrebieux wind farm has been built at Lauwin-Planque in the Nord department.
Seuil de Bapaume and La Plaine de l’Escrebieux have five and four 3 MW Siemens wind turbines respectively. Annual output from the two wind farms will produce the equivalent of the electricity consumption of around 28,000 inhabitants.
Over 150 local jobs were involved in the construction phases.
These two new renewable energy facilities are jointly owned by EDF Energies Nouvelles and Diamond Generating Europe, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corporation.
To date, EDF Energies Nouvelles possesses around 90 MW in wind energy projects under development, under construction or in operation in the Nord Pas-de-Calais region.
