EDF Energies Nouvelles and WindVision have decided to pool their talents and experience to complete the Le Mont des 4 Faux wind farm. Under development in the Champagne-Ardenne region since 2006, this onshore wind farm with potential for around 50 turbines is the biggest in France in terms of potential installed capacity.
The Mont des 4 Faux project is located around 30 km from Reims in the Ardenne plains and has potential for around 50 wind turbines.
EDF Energies Nouvelles and WindVision will pool their expertise to see the project to completion. The two partners plan to complete the reports necessary to obtain authorization and planning consent, and to continue to work with local stakeholders who have been involved alongside WindVision for many years. Thus the development of the project locally will be carried out jointly by the two companies.
Signing the partnership agreement, Stephan Moelans, CEO of WindVision, commented: “We have believed in this ambitious project since 2006. EDF Energies Nouvelles’ ability to manage complex projects gives us even greater faith in its successful completion.”
“This project fits with EDF Energies Nouvelles' strategy of pursuing its growth through an emphasis on partnerships. The detailed knowledge of the project that WindVision brings, will enable us to build on the momentum already created to complete this major wind farm,” added Emmanuel Jaclot, Executive Vice President of EDF Energies Nouvelles.
The Champagne-Ardenne region boasts the largest installed wind power capacity in France. The group currently operates four renewable energy projects in the region, with total capacity of 38.3 MW.
- Three wind farms in Marne: Clamanges (10 MW), Portes de Champagne (12.3 MW) and Vanault le Châtel (8.5 MW);
- The Romilly-sur-Seine solar power plant, Aube (7.5 MW).
