Confirmation of the three offshore wind projects of Fécamp, Courseulles-sur-Mer and Saint-Nazaire

EDF is delighted with the confirmation by the President of the Republic, Mr. Emmanuel Macron, of the three offshore wind projects of Fécamp, Courseulles-sur-Mer and Saint-Nazaire that its subsidiary EDF Energies Nouvelles is developing with its partners Enbridge Inc. and WPD .

At the end of this period of negotiation with the State, we are delighted with the confirmation of our three projects under conditions which allow the creation of a national industrial sector for offshore wind power with nearly 7,000 direct jobs and indirect. Our teams and those of our partners are fully committed to carrying out these decisive projects for the energy transition in France: they will cover the equivalent of the electricity consumption of more than 2,000,000 people.

These projects are fully in line with our CAP 2030 strategy, which plans to double the Group's renewable capacities between 2015 and 2030 to reach 50 GW. » declares Jean-Bernard Lévy, Chairman and CEO of EDF.

“We are happy with this decision. After several years of consultation with the territory and preparatory work, we are awaiting the latest court decisions concerning the authorizations of these projects to launch their construction with a view to the first commissioning from 2022. We are thus ready to be a key player in the industrial adventure of renewable marine energies in France.” added Bruno Bensasson, EDF Group Executive Director in charge of the Renewable Energy Sector and Chairman and CEO of EDF Energies Nouvelles.

The consortium and its industrial partner GE Renewable Energy were winners of the three offshore wind projects in Fécamp, Courseulles-sur-Mer and Saint-Nazaire in 2012 during the first call for tenders.

These projects are the result of extensive consultation carried out for more than 10 years with the territories by EDF Energies Nouvelles and its partners – State services, industrialists, associations and local social and economic players. The final investment decision which will allow the start of work can be taken once the authorizations obtained for these parks have been purged of any appeal. The consortium expects these decisions in the coming months.
