EDF Renewables is launching a crowdfunding campaign for the construction of the Lagnieu, Loyettes and Samognat solar power plants.

Lyon, October 1, 2020 – The collection of a total amount of €300,000 will make it possible to invest, from October 16, in three photovoltaic parks which will be put into service in 2021. It will initially be open to residents of the community of communes of the Plaine de l'Ain and Haut Bugey Agglomération, then subsequently to the whole residents of the Ain department.

Involve residents in the construction of the three photovoltaic power plants

This collection, the campaign of which will start on October 16, 2020 via these sites www.lendosphere.com/samognat And www.lendosphere.com/lagnieu-et-loyettes, aims to finance part of the construction of three photovoltaic parks, located in the municipalities of Lagnieu, Loyettes and Samognat. The work has started gradually since the start of the school year in September. With a total cumulative capacity of 11.3 MWp, these parks, which are scheduled to be commissioned in the second quarter of 2021, will be made up of nearly 42,800 solar panels. These three solar parks will contribute to local dynamism and generate around €74,000 in benefits.
direct economic benefits for communities.

Investing in sustainable economic recovery and energy transition
These three solar energy projects demonstrate a strong commitment from local communities to participate in the energy transition. For EDF Renewables, it is a question of sustainably supporting the territories in their ambitions and of carrying out projects that respect the environment while generating economic benefits at the local level.

All of these three parks will produce the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of more than 5,500 people, or, for example, nearly 80% of the inhabitants of the town of Lagnieu. Through this crowdfunding operation, citizens become financiers of solar power plants. This collection, set at €300,000, will last until December 11, 2020. This crowdfunding will be reserved for:

  • the first month, from October 16 to November 13, 2020, to residents of the Community of Communes
of the Plaine de l’Ain and Haut-Bugey Agglomération,
  • then will be open to residents of Ain from November 13, 2020
  • and finally to the inhabitants of the neighboring departments (Haute-Savoie, Isère, Jura, Rhône, Saône-et-
Loire et Savoie) from December 4, 2020.

For Francis Audigier, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regional manager of EDF Renewables: “EDF Renewables is very pleased to launch this new financing campaign for the three solar power plants in Plaine de l’Ain and Haut Bugey. These local collections offer the opportunity for citizens and residents of our renewable energy parks to get involved in the energy transition. Leader in the production of electricity from renewable sources in France, EDF supports the territories sustainably and is committed to carrying out projects that respect the environment while promoting local economic benefits.”

Details of the three solar projects

The Samognat solar power plant
Launched in 2016, the photovoltaic power plant project has been supported from the start by the municipality of Samognat. Located on a former sand quarry, the solar power plant will make use of abandoned municipal land. The Haut-Bugey urban community is also committed to a Territorial Climate Energy Plan. With a total installed capacity of 3.6 MWp, this photovoltaic plant is made up of 11,000 solar panels. The plant will produce each year the equivalent of the average annual electricity consumption of around 1,600 inhabitants. It will avoid 91 tonnes of CO2 per year.

The Lagnieu solar power plant
As part of its Territorial Climate Energy Plan, the community of communes of Plaine de l'Ain wants to promote the development of renewable energies in its territory. To do this, in 2017 it launched a call for projects for the construction of a photovoltaic park in the town of Lagnieu, in a former sand and gravel quarry. With a total installed capacity of 2.9 MWp, the Lagnieu photovoltaic plant is made up of 8,204 solar panels. The plant will produce each year the equivalent of the average annual electricity consumption of around 1,400 inhabitants, and will prevent the emission of 84 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere each year.

The Loyettes solar power plant
The photovoltaic power plant project has been supported since its launch, in 2016, by the municipality of Loyettes located within the Plaine de l'Ain community of municipalities, engaged in a Territorial Climate Energy Plan. Located on a former quarry, the solar power plant makes it possible to reclaim abandoned municipal land. With a total installed capacity of 4.78 MWp, the Loyettes photovoltaic plant is made up of approximately 11,800 panels. Each year it will produce the equivalent of the average electricity consumption of around 2,500 inhabitants and will avoid the annual emission of 146 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere.
