EDF Renewables continues its development in France with the commissioning of the Taillades wind farm, with an installed capacity of 27 MW in the Lozère department. This new installation is part of the EDF Group's strategy, Cap 2030, which aims to double EDF's renewable capacities in France and around the world to bring them to 50 GW net in 2030.
On the heights of Taillades, at an altitude of 1,400 m, this new park has 9 wind turbines of 3 MW each. Located on the Massif de la Gardille, north of Mont Lozère and the Cévennes, it extends over the communes of Chasseradès and Bastide-Puylaurent. The energy produced by this park is equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 30,000 inhabitants, or nearly 40 % of the population of Lozère.
The social and environmental commitment charter[1] set up by EDF Renewables allowed several local companies to contribute to the construction site.
This project mobilized up to 100 people on the site and took place over more than 20 months. Local elected officials have also welcomed the commitment of the EDF Group and its subsidiary EDF Renewables to economic development and the region's energy transition.
Throughout the project, environmental and territorial issues were taken into account for successful integration of the park. Thus, a territorial project which will soon be signed between EDF Renewables and the Communauté de Communes Mont-Lozère aims to energize and enhance the local heritage (landscape, architectural and tourist).
EDF Renewables has 528.5 MW of installed capacity (483.4 MW in wind and
45.1 MWp in solar) in Occitanie[2], thus actively participating in the energy transition of the Region and France.
