EDF Renewables finalizes the acquisition of the LUXEL Group, French developer and operator of solar projects

EDF Renewables announces that it has acquired the LUXEL Group, an independent solar player in France, which holds a portfolio of one gigawatt peak (1 GWp), made up of parks already in operation and projects ready to be built or under development.

This acquisition will help accelerate the growth of EDF Renewables in solar and achieve the objectives of the Solar Plan, which aims to make the EDF Group the leader in photovoltaics in France, with 30% market share in the sector between 2020 and 2035 .

Thanks to this acquisition, EDF Renouvelables, a leading player in renewable energies in France, reaches 320 MWp gross of photovoltaic capacities in operation on the national territory, spread over more than a hundred installations. The Group is also increasing its portfolio of photovoltaic projects under development by around 900 MWp gross.

The acquisition of the LUXEL Group also allows EDF Renewables to strengthen its development teams, thanks to around forty recognized photovoltaic specialists, distributed between the LUXEL head office, located in Pérols (Hérault), and six development agencies on the territory.

“The acquisition of LUXEL, which has a portfolio of quality projects and experienced teams, allows EDF Renewables to significantly strengthen its position in solar energy in France, with a view to achieving the ambitious objectives of the Solar Plan EDF. This operation is part of the Group's Cap 2030 strategy, aiming to double its installed renewable capacities worldwide, between 2015 and 2030. » declared Bruno Bensasson, Executive Director of the EDF Group in charge of the Renewable Energy Sector and Chairman and CEO of EDF Renewables.

“The industrial project proposed by EDF Renewables seemed to us to be the most promising for the LUXEL company and its employees, both in terms of EDF's ambitions in solar and the values conveyed by the Group. We are very happy with this merger which will allow us to extend and accelerate the history of LUXEL, which we have until now conducted independently with the teams,” added Bruno Spinner, President of LUXEL..
