EDF EN commissions a 115 MWp solar power plant in Lorraine in France

Continuing the commissioning of its major solar projects in France, EDF Energies Nouvelles announces that of the Toul-Rosières solar power plant in Lorraine, with an installed capacity of 115 MWp. The completion of this project made it possible to decontaminate and reconvert a former military base.
Located in the Meurthe-et-Moselle department, near Nancy, the Toul-Rosières photovoltaic power plant resulted in an exemplary project supported by local elected officials and stakeholders, which created local employment and quality environmental issues its two priorities. This major achievement is equipped with approximately 1.4 million new generation photovoltaic panels, called “thin film”, produced by First Solar. The electricity production of this plant is equivalent to the annual consumption of around 55,000 inhabitants and helps avoid the emission of around 4,600 tonnes of CO2 per year.

This power plant project also makes it possible to revive a former air base and clean up the site: asbestos removal of 170 buildings, deconstruction of 280, evacuation of hydrocarbon tanks and several kilometers of networks, treatment of 8,000 tonnes of polluted soil.

“Located on disused land of the former NATO air base, the Toul power station constitutes an ambitious reconversion project which made it possible to decontaminate the site while offering it a second vocation, the production of green electricity”, declares Yvon André, CEO of EDF EN France. “The success of this project is due to successful collaboration with all local stakeholders and a constant concern for environmental performance. »

Initiated in 2009, the plant was developed and built by EDF EN France and gradually commissioned since May 2012. Its operation and maintenance are carried out by EDF EN Services, a subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles.

The commissioning of the Toul photovoltaic power plant follows the commissioning of the Massangis (56 MWp, Burgundy) power plants in October and Crucey (60 MWp, Center) in September, two projects also for territorial revaluation.
