EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the acquisition of the French wind activity of Séchilienne Sidec, which represents an installed capacity of 56.5 MW.
In total, six wind farms with a cumulative installed capacity of 56.5 MW and five projects under development (totaling 60 MW) make up Séchilienne Sidec's wind portfolio. In line with its development strategy, this acquisition constitutes an opportunity for EDF Energies Nouvelles to complete its French wind power portfolio.
“Organic growth constitutes the heart of our development model but we are open to opportunities allowing us not only to accelerate this growth but also to expand our operation and maintenance activities,” declares Emmanuel Jaclot, executive director of Strategy, M&A and DVAS at EDF Energies Nouvelles. “The acquisition of these six wind farms strengthens our positioning in wind power in France.”
EDF EN Services, a subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles, will gradually take over the operation and maintenance of these installations, thus guaranteeing optimal management quality. Indeed, with 8 GW operated worldwide on its own behalf or on behalf of third parties, EDF Energies Nouvelles is a benchmark in the operation-maintenance services market.
Following the purchase from Iberdrola of 32 wind farms in France, held for 20% by EDF Energies Nouvelles, this new acquisition allows the subsidiary of the EDF group to consolidate its presence on the national territory.
