This is the first long-term supply contract for electricity from renewable sources for the brand.
Ivry-sur-Seine – June 5, 2023 – In line with its commitments for more virtuous energy, SIPLEC (E.Leclerc) has concluded with EDF Renewables a long-term purchase contract for electricity from renewable sources (or Corporate PPA) which will allow the construction of three photovoltaic parks located in Allier. The electricity production generated will make it possible to supply 1.5 % of the total consumption of the E.Leclerc brand in France.
A 20-year contract to promote renewable energies
This Corporate PPA with a total power of approximately 31 MWp and a duration of 20 years concerns the supply of the entire electrical production of three solar power plants located in the Allier department. Developed, financed, built and operated by Luxel, a 100% subsidiary of EDF Renewables, these plants will cover 1.5% of the electricity needs of the E.Leclerc Movement in low-carbon electricity.
The signing of this new contract adds to the 5.3 GW of Corporate PPA of renewable origin signed by the EDF Group worldwide since 2010, making it one of the major players in this sector. This contract contributes to the ambitions of the Group's Solar Plan, which aims to make EDF one of the leaders in photovoltaics in France¹.
A complementary means for more responsible energy consumption
Photovoltaic panels on the roofs of stores or shade houses to promote energy autonomy, multiplication of charging points for electric vehicles: the E.Leclerc Movement has been undertaking projects for more than a decade to promote higher energy consumption. sustainable. The signing of Corporate PPA with solar power plants to power the stores reinforces this brand strategy by proposing a new axis of deployment in favor of the energy transition. The agreement concluded with EDF Renewables in Allier is a first step intended to lead to similar projects elsewhere in the region.
Carlotta Gentile Latino, Director of Land Activities France at EDF Renewables, declares: “We are very happy to sign this long-term partnership with SIPLEC (E.Leclerc) and to contribute to its decarbonization objectives. This contract will allow it to secure a purchase price for 20 years and guarantee the renewable origin of the electricity consumed. The EDF Renewables teams are committed to offering innovative solutions to companies to support them in the energy transition through the supply of low-carbon electricity. »
Thierry Forien, Deputy Director of SIPLEC, adds: “For more than 40 years, we have been making energy accessible to as many people as possible. We are delighted to announce today this partnership with EDF Renewables which is in line with our historic commitments and further accelerates our contribution to the energy transition for all. »
