La Ferrière Airoux, October 20, 2022 – Arkolia energies and EDF Renewables, equal partners in this project, inaugurated the Vent de la Javigne wind farm alongside the Mayor of La Ferrière Airoux.
With an installed capacity of 15 MW and composed of 5 wind turbines, the park has produced since March 2021, the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of 15,000 inhabitants, or more than half of the Community of Communes of Civraisien in Poitou.
In 2017, Arkolia Energies and EDF Renewables acquired, in equal shares, a wind project based in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region previously developed by the company IDEX Services. The construction site begins in August 2020 with earthworks and then installation of wind turbines.
Particular attention was paid to preserving biodiversity in the area: 1.5 hectares of land was, for example, sown with so-called honey plants, attractive to bees. Measures were also put in place during harvesting and mowing, in good coordination with local farmers, so that birds could come to the plot to feed.

Laura Habegre, Agency Manager for the Grand Ouest zone for EDF Renewables, specifies: “The inauguration of this park today demonstrates the commitment of EDF Renewables, with the support of local stakeholders and in particular the municipality, to develop, build and operate renewable energy projects
supporting the region in its energy transition. Today, EDF Renewables operates 7 wind farms and 22 solar power plants in New Aquitaine. »
Rémi Coopman, Mayor of La Ferrière Airoux, complete: “The climate emergency that we know and are experiencing today, reinforces the direction that our municipality took 8/9 years ago by accepting the launch of a wind energy development study on our territory . I am proud that La Ferrière Airoux is participating in the energy transition, even on a small scale.”
