MASEN and its partner EDF Renewables complete financing with a view to launching the repowering of the Nassim Koudia Al Baida wind farm

Today, Masen and its partner EDF Renewables announce the financial closure of the repowering of the Nassim Koudia Al Baida Wind Farm. This repowering will double the production capacity to 100 MW instead of the 50 MW initially installed in 2000 by the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water (ONEE).

The project is financed through the use of commercial loans from both national and international banks, namely: AttijariWafa bank, Banque Centrale Populaire, Bank of Africa, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Société Générale France. It also benefits from the support of government and local authorities, who supported this project throughout its development phase.

The financial closure of Nassim Koudia Al Baida announces the immediate launch of construction work on the wind farm and in particular the manufacturing of the blades, carried out by Siemens-Gamesa in its Tangier factory.

As soon as it is put into operation, scheduled for 2th quarter 2024, the annual electricity production of Nassim Koudia Al Baida will meet the consumption needs of around 420,000 inhabitants and will avoid the emission of the equivalent of 308,000 tonnes of CO2 per year.

The Nassim wind plan, like the Noor solar plan, brings together all the wind projects supported by Masen under the same name, contributing to the Kingdom of Morocco's objective of reaching at least 52% of renewable capacity in its electricity mix by 2030.
