EDF Renewables will supply OVHcloud with renewable electricity from solar sources to power part of its data centers in France

Paris, December 14, 2021 – EDF Renewables, one of the world leaders in renewable energies, and OVHcloud, a European provider of cloud solutions, have signed their first renewable electricity purchase contract. This contract concerns the supply for 15 years of the electrical production of a future 50 MW French solar power plant which will be built, owned and operated by EDF Renewables.

This contract will allow OVHcloud to source renewable energy at a competitive price to power part of its French data center fleet which currently includes sixteen buildings spread over four sites. It meets OVHcloud's decarbonization ambition, which is to achieve 100 % of its electricity consumption coming from renewable energies by 2025.

As part of this contract, EDF Renewables will build a photovoltaic power plant, with a capacity of 50 MW, in the south of France, with commissioning scheduled for 2024. This is the 9th private purchase contract of renewable electricity signed by EDF Renewables with companies in France, in 3 years.

For Nicolas Couderc, France Director of EDF Renewables: “ We are proud to sign a long-term partnership between EDF Renewables and OVHcloud, the European cloud leader, and to thus contribute to their decarbonization ambition. This contract is part of EDF's Solar Plan which aims to make the Group a solar leader in France with 30 % market share by 2035 ".

François Sterin, Chief Industry Officer of OVHcloud, adds: “ Investment in performance and energy savings are part of the OVHcloud story. We are therefore delighted to continue this story with a partner such as EDF Renewables to secure our long-term energy supply in a competitive and responsible manner. ".

Gauthier Gamby, Chief Procurement Officer of OVHcloud, adds: “ The solar power plant project presented to us by EDF Renewables attracted us with its local and innovative dimension, integrating responsible electricity production committed to preserving its environment. ".
