Charleville-Mézières, September 15, 2021 – EDF Renewables and WindVision via the Société Parc Eolien Mont des Quatre Faux, and the Lycée des Métiers des Technologies Industrielles François Bazin, signed a partnership agreement on September 14 relating to training and employment in wind energy professions in the Grand Est region.
By signing this agreement, the two players undertake to promote the wind industry as part of the training provided by the Lycée François Bazin, by sharing internship and job opportunities. The objective is to ultimately contribute to the future recruitment needs that the Mont des Quatre Faux onshore wind farm project could generate in the Region.
The signing of this agreement is also an opportunity to test new training technologies, in augmented virtual reality, developed by a start-up from the Grand Est region, an EDF partner.
A convention aimed at promoting wind power professions among students of the Grand Est Region
The signatories undertake in particular to:
- Raise awareness of energy transition issues and the profession of maintenance technician among students through interventions by professionals in the sector and visits to wind farm sites;
- Adapt the content of training to the needs of the energy sectors via adapted educational tools;
- Facilitate links between EDF Renewables and the Lycée for the integration of interns or work-study students and the sharing of job offers;
- Promote the diversity of young people within the EDF group and EDF Renewables and more broadly EDF Grand Est and in particular, the feminization of energy professions.
This agreement will help meet the recruitment needs for technicians at EDF Renouvelables, particularly in the Grand Est and Hauts-de-France regions.
The Mont des Quatre Faux wind project, a structuring project for the territory, a driving force local economic development
From the beginning of the project, the Mont des Quatre Faux project company engaged in a proactive and innovative consultation process organized in the region in 2015.
This wind project with a capacity of 226 MW is in the development phase. It is located about fifteen kilometers south of Rethel, in the seven communes of Bignicourt, Cauroy, Hauviné, Juniville, La Neuville-en-Tourne-à-Fuy, Mont-Saint-Remy and Ville-sur-Retourne in the department of the Ardennes.
Through the signing of this partnership agreement, the company Parc Eolien du Mont des Quatre Faux is committed to an approach in favor of employment, training and local integration. It also reaffirms its desire to build a coherent project in accordance with the challenges of the territory and the energy transition.
In view of its future recruitment needs in the Region, the Mont des Quatre Faux wind project could thus contribute to promoting local employment, on the one hand with the construction of the park; and on the other hand, for its operation and maintenance, during the lifespan of the future park of nearly 25 years, with the creation of several dozen long-term local jobs which will be based in a local maintenance branch.
For Didier Hellstern, Director of Development for North France at EDF Renewables: " The name of the Mont des Quatre Faux wind farm team supported by EDF Renewables and WindVision, I I am delighted to renew this commitment to the Lycée Polyvalent François Bazin and to thus contribute to the training of future wind power players in the region. The signing of this convention demonstrates the dynamism of the Grand Est region and its desire to introduce future workers, the challenges of energy transition and the professions of the 21st century”.
For Roger Michels, principal of the Bazin high school in Charleville Mézières “As a new Principal of the Lycée Bazin in Charleville Mézières, I can only be delighted to continue and reaffirm this commitment between National Education and the Business World, more particularly with EDF Renewables and the Mont des Quatre Faux Wind Farm. This tremendous opportunity for our pupils and our students must allow us to perpetuate these educational partnerships in the field of renewable energies linked to energy issues of our country and promote access to employment for our young graduates. »
For Jean-Michel Deveza, Director of Regional Action EDF Grand Est: " For years, EDF and National Education work together to support young people to better understand the realities of the business world through teaching, but also promote professional integration and access to employment for young graduates. In 2020, EDF Grand Est region welcomed 551 work-study students within its teams and completed nearly 300 hires, two thirds of which come from work-study programs.”
