EDF Renewables launches a crowdfunding campaign for the construction of the Champ Gourleau wind farm in Yonne

Paris, July 19, 2021 – EDF Renewables announces the launch of a crowdfunding campaign for the Champ Gourleau wind farm (around 23 MW of installed capacity) currently under construction, in Yonne, in the Burgundy-Franche-Comté region. With a total amount of €200,000, the collection will allow the local population to invest, via the Lendosphere platform, in this future renewable installation which is scheduled to be commissioned at the end of 2021. The collection is open from today and until September 15, 2021 to all residents of Yonne and neighboring departments.

Involve residents in the construction of a wind farm
This collection, which starts today via the site www.lendosphere.com/champ-gourleau, aims to finance part of the construction of the Champ Gourleau wind farm started in 2020. Located in the municipalities of Massangis and Grimault, the park of 7 wind turbines will have a total capacity of around 23 MW. From its commissioning scheduled for the end of 2021, it will produce the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of around 20,000 people, or 60 % of the population of the city of Auxerre.

Thanks to this crowdfunding operation, citizens become actors in the energy transition of their region. The collection, open until September 15, is reserved for residents of the departments where the project is located and bordering (Aube, Côte-d'Or, Loiret, Nièvre, Seine-et-Marne and Yonne).

Investing in sustainable economic recovery and energy transition
Crowdfunding like that of the Champ Gourleau wind farm constitutes an essential lever to meet the growing demand from individuals to engage in the development of renewable projects close to their homes. For EDF Renewables, it is about sustainably supporting territories in their low-carbon ambitions while generating economic benefits at the local level.

For Jennifer Ménage, Regional Manager Burgundy-Franche-Comté of EDF Renewables: “The Champ Gourleau wind farm is the result of close collaboration between the territory and EDF Renewables. It demonstrates a strong commitment from local authorities to participate in the energy transition. We are pleased that, via the crowdfunding, residents can get involved in the local development of renewable energies while benefiting from financial income from the project. »
