EDF Energies Nouvelles continues its expansion in France with the commissioning of the Basse Thiérache Sud project, a wind farm located in the Picardy region with an installed capacity of 24 MW.
The Basse Thiérache Sud wind farm is located on the communes of Iron and Villiers-lès-Guise in the Aisne department, and has eight Siemens turbines with a unit capacity of 3 MW.
The wind farm, which is jointly owned by EDF Energies Nouvelles and Diamond Generating Europe, will produce the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of over 21,000 inhabitants.
Its construction generated 25 local jobs.
As of today, in the region of Picardy, EDF Energies Nouvelles has 83 MW of wind power installations in operation and a 136 MW pipeline of wind energy projects in the process of being developed or built.
Over 2014, EDF Energies Nouvelles has added 160 MW of gross capacity in France. It now operates a total of 934 MW of wind farms across the country.
