EDF Energies Nouvelles commissions a 12.3 MW wind farm in Champagne-Ardenne

Further strengthening its expansion in the French wind energy sector, EDF Energies Nouvelles announces the commissioning of the Portes de Champagne wind farm. With a 12.3 MW installed capacity, it is located in the Marne department.

Comprising six 2.05 MW turbines (4 located at Essarts-le-Vicomte and 2 others at La Forestière), the wind farm was developed and built by EDF Energies Nouvelles and will be operated and maintained by its subsidiary EDF EN Services.

By the end, this facility will produce the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of 11 000 inhabitants (including heating) and will prevent around 2,000 tons of CO2 / year being emitted into the atmosphere.

The commissioning of the Portes de Champagne wind farm, coupled with the forthcoming commissioning of the Pouzols wind farm (Aude), with a 5.1 MW, brings the gross installed wind energy capacity of EDF EN in France to 773.5 MW*.

Over the last six months, EDF Energies Nouvelles has significantly strengthened its presence in its home market through the successive acquisitions of Iberdrola Renovables France and Sechilienne Sidec’s onshore wind energy assets for a total of 361 MW gross, as well as the commissioning of 65 MW of new in-house developed capacity.
