EDF Energies Nouvelles is today announcing the acquisition of Séchilienne Sidec’s wind energy business in France, which has 56.5 MW in installed capacity.
All in all, Séchilienne Sidec’s wind energy portfolio comprises six wind farms with installed capacity totalling 56.5 MW and five projects under development (60 MW in total capacity). In line with its development strategy, this acquisition represents an opportunity for EDF Energies Nouvelles to add to its French wind energy portfolio.
“Organic growth is the focus of our expansion model, but we are open to opportunities helping us not only to accelerate our growth, but also to step up our operations & maintenance activities”, commented Emmanuel Jaclot, Executive VP for Strategy, M&A and DSSA at EDF Energies Nouvelles. “The acquisition of these six wind farms bolsters our positions in the French wind energy segment.”
EDF EN Services, a subsidiary of EDF Energies Nouvelles, will gradually take over the operation and maintenance of these facilities, making sure that they run as smoothly and efficiently as possible. With 8 GW in capacity around the world operated either for its own account or for third parties, EDF Energies Nouvelles is a leading player in the market for Operations & Maintenance services.
Following on from the acquisition from Iberdrola of 32 wind farms in France, in which EDF Energies Nouvelles has a 20% interest, this latest acquisition will enable the EDF group’s subsidiary to consolidate its presence in its home market.
