EDF Energies Nouvelles appoints Carmelo Scalone to head up the New Business department

Carmelo Scalone’s primary duties with EDF Energies Nouvelles, which conducts internationally over 80% of its activities in 18 countries, will be to:

• execute the company’s international expansion strategy and extend its positions to new and existing energy segments in new geographical regions;
• oversee partnerships and subsidiaries in new countries as they start up their operations

Since 2007, Carmelo Scalone has been Director of Business Development at the renewable subsidiary of Portuguese energy group EDP.

A graduate of the IESE Business School in Barcelona and Bocconi University in Milan and a qualified electrical engineer, he has held various management positions in Italy, Spain and Sweden in the renewables industry and with international energy groups.

Commenting on the appointment, Antoine Cahuzac, Chief Executive Officer of EDF Energies Nouvelles, said: “Carmelo Scalone’s extensive knowledge of the renewable energies sector and the development skills he has gained throughout his international career represent key strengths that will help to maintain EDF Energies Nouvelles’ expansion drive into new high-potential countries.”
