Convinced that our parks and power plants can and must be the driving force behind ambitious regional development, we take care to design projects adapted to local specificities, creating economic benefits and integrating environmental issues. Discover some examples of concrete achievements.
Each territory is unique, which is why EDF Renewables is committed to supporting territories in the implementation of projects that respect their history and heritage.
Promote the history of the town and its heritage. Allow residents to understand the different energy sources of yesterday and today while creating a living space open to all. These are the objectives of the reception center and digital space set up thanks to the spin-offs of the wind project. An educational table allows everyone to understand the challenges of the energy transition.
Beyond that, this space has also become a meeting place for this town of around a hundred inhabitants (home to the media library, various exhibitions, pétanque game, etc.).

Located more than 10 km from the D-Day beaches, the Calvados offshore wind farm is engaged in important work in favor of the duty of memory. Among the actions carried out, the financial support provided for the reconstruction of the Arromanches museum. This place will bring to life the memory of the Landing of June 1944.

As part of the support measures put in place for the Espiers-Guilleville wind farm, the restoration and electrification of the Garenne mill was supported by EDF Renewables. Created in 1941 by the Ymonville millers' association, the Garenne mill is a major piece of the historical heritage of this cereal region. It symbolizes the historical use of wind in this region.

Location : Center Val de Loire
Power : 35.7 MW
The construction of the Champagne Picarde wind farm enabled the rehabilitation of former fallow land into a shared orchard. Designed and developed by the EDF Renewables teams in close collaboration with the town hall, this orchard offers residents a new space to walk and pick plums and apples, open to everyone.

The economic benefits of a renewable project can be multiple, ranging from the creation of activities linked to the construction and maintenance of equipment to the development of tourism.
To build the first wind farm in the Rhône department, EDF Renewables set up crowdfunding. An opportunity for residents of the local area to benefit from an attractive financial investment, while taking part in the area's energy transition.

At the forefront of the development of industrial tourism focused on naval and aeronautical activities, the communities of the Nazaire region have seized the opportunity of the construction of the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm to create EOL, an educational center focused on offshore wind power. Supported by players in the Marine Renewable Energy sector, including EDF Renewables and its partners, this unique center allows an interactive immersion where young and old can discover all aspects of the operation of the first wind farm in French sea.

Commissioned in 2008, the Salles Curan wind farm generates economic benefits throughout the Aveyron region. The community of municipalities benefits each year from significant tax benefits ranging from €500,000 to €600,000. Actions aimed at residents and in favor of development were thus able to be implemented, such as the development of an aquatic center or even a fitness trail on the edge of Lake Villefranche-de-Panat.

After 19 years of operation, the Oupia wind farm was the subject of a so-called “repowering” project aimed at renewing the site's 9 wind turbines with more powerful models. This renewal makes it possible to secure tax benefits for communities over nearly 20 years, thus allowing a reduction in local taxes and the perpetuation of the annual organization of a music festival.

In order to reconcile energy transition and protection of biodiversity, we ensure that each of our projects respects the environment of the site. Beyond that, the studies carried out sometimes allow us to better understand the ecosystems of certain sites and certain measures even lead to the enhancement of biodiversity for certain projects.
The design of the Grand Guéret solar power plant was designed to integrate the environmental issues of the site. A plant corridor was thus created and crosses the entire length of the power plant. It allows local wildlife to circulate freely within the solar power plant.

Location : New Aquitaine
Power installed : 14.7 MW
Located on a former waste storage site, the Saint-Romain-en-Gal solar power plant is part of the “Positive Energy Territory” approach of the Vienne Condrieu Agglomeration community. A hedgerow was planted, thus recreating an ecological corridor favoring the development and nesting of birds, insects and other mammals. This measure, as well as other design measures promoting the biodiversity of the site, enabled it to obtain in 2021 the “positive biodiversity” label created by the Syndicat Mixte des Rives du Rhône.

After nearly 7 years dedicated to technical studies prior to the construction of the Fécamp offshore wind farm, the measurement mast was bequeathed to the France Energies Marines research institute. Located 13 km from the Normandy coast, it constitutes an ideal observation and environmental monitoring point. It will enable ambitious research programs to be carried out and promote better knowledge of the integration of marine renewable energies into the marine environment.

Power installed : 500 MW
Abandoned since the early 1990s, the former Air Base 136 represented a burden for the neighboring town of Toul-Rosières. The redevelopment by EDF Renewables of this degraded land into a solar power plant enabled the asbestos removal and demolition of the buildings of the former air base, the decontamination of the soil and the dismantling of hydrocarbon tanks. Today, the solar power plant produces annually the equivalent of the annual consumption of 55,000 inhabitants.
